Next Generation DNA Led Technologies

This brief highlights advances in DNA technologies and their wider applications. DNA is the source of life and has been studied since a generation, but very little is known as yet. Several sophisticated technologies of the current era have laid their foundations on the principle of DNA based mechanisms. DNA based technologies are bringing a new revolution of Advanced Science and Technology. Forensic Investigation, Medical Diagnosis, Paternity Disputes, Individual Identity, Health insurance, Motor Insurance have incorporated the DNA testing and profiling technologies for settling the issues.

Ms. Sharada Avadhanam is one of the top most forensic scientists in India. Currently she is the Deputy Director of the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy in Hyderabad. She has written more than thirteen books on various forensic science subjects. Her research interests are in the area of DNA finger printing, forensic science and computer forensics.

Ms. G Jyothsna, obtained her Post Graduate in Biochemistry from Kakatiya University, Warangal. She was a gold medalist for the Academic year 2010. Her areas of interest include Mutational Studies and Docking interactions. Conducted several workshops in universities like GRIET, Hyderabad, NIT Warangal. She is an Assistant Editor for an International Journal Helix. She has several Publications in the National and International Journals. She has guided 100+ students in the successful completion of their Academic Projects. Currently working on a DST project on “Developing a setup for the treatment of Diabetes”.

Ms. Amita Kashyap is Principal Investigator at CRRao AIMSCS, University of Hyderabad Campus. Prior to this she was Head of Academic Operations at BioAxis DNA Research Centre (P) Ltd since 2006. After completing her Masters degree in Molecular Biology at Patna Science College, she joined BioAxis DNA Research Centre Pvt Ltd Hyderabad. She has wide experience of handling various corporate R&D and service based Projects related to Molecular Biology, DNA Fingerprinting and Bioinformatics. She was one of the members of the BDRC Team in 2008 when the company delivered DNA Based Evidence collection training to Andhra Pradesh Police in various DTCs and PTCs Andhra Pradesh. Her work on Forensic Bioinformatics was awarded the best Paper award at IEEE Conference ICACT in 2013 also for her novel work on Reverse vaccinology she received Gold Medal at Biotech 2007 at Indian institute of Toxicology Research, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Lucknow. Amita has delivered more than 40 invited talks at various academic organizations and organized special session on Bioinformatics at PRIB Conference at Singapore 2007. She has guided more than 150 student projects of various post graduate levels and has 11 peer reviewed International publications to her credit. Her Research Interests includes molecular interactions, primarily those between regulatory proteins and their DNA/RNA targets, protein-protein interactions, protein-peptide interactions, DNA Fingerprinting and Profiling and Drug discovery.
