商品簡介
Evans (Harvard U.) collects seven essays of her late colleague, Professor Levin, a major Shakespeare critic. The essays (1959-96) were to be part of a planned larger study to examine what French critics term the "scene a faire," defined by Levin in the appended review as "... the scene that makes the play." Levin applies the scenic method to scenes from two comedies ( Love's Labor's Lost , The Merchant of Venice ); two histories ( Richard III , Richard II ); and three tragedies ( King Lear , Macbeth , Anthony and Cleopatra ). Appends his review of The Structure of Shakespearean Scenes by James E. Hirsh (Yale U. Press, 1981). Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
