Physicists sometimes talk as if a cat could be both dead and alive, or as if the moon was not there when nobody looks at it, or as if two particles could interact even when they are arbitrarily far from each other. This book explains, in simple terms, with a minimum of mathematics, what is true and what is false in those statements. It explains why things look like being in two places at the same time, why some nonlocal correlations cannot be explained by local mechanisms and why, nevertheless, the quantum theory can be understood in terms of matter in motion.

He works on statistical and mathematical physics. He is mostly known to the non-academic audience for co-authoring Fashionable Nonsense (also known as Intellectual Impostures) with Alan Sokal, in which they criticize relativism in the philosophy of science.
