Culturally Diverse Mental Health ─ The Challenges of Research and Resistance

Mio (behavioral sciences, California State Polytechnic U.) and Iwamasa (psychology, DePaul U.) present 19 chapters addressing a range of issues of multicultural psychology in practice in the United States. Beginning chapters examine the reasons for resistance to multiculturalism by dominant power groups both within psychology itself and within the wider society. The remaining discussions are devoted to research related to ethnic and non-ethnic minority groups. Most of the work is synthetic, summarizing recent research and debates.
