Brian E. Small has been a full-time, professional bird and nature photographer for more than 25 years. He served as the Photo Editor for the American Birding Association's membership magazine, Birding, for 15 years. Brian grew up in Los Angeles, graduated from U.C.L.A. in 1982, and still lives there today with his wife Ana, daughter Nicole and son Tyler. Nate Swick is editor of the American Birding Association blog, author of Birding for the Curious, and a contributor to the 10,000 Birds blog. An active Carolina birder, he has served as chair of the NC Bird Records Committee and manages eBird records for North Carolina. Outside of birding, he is an environmental educator and interpretive naturalist. He particularly enjoys patch birding in the western Piedmont near his home in Greensboro, North Carolina.
