Leisure, Health and Well-Being ─ A Holistic Approach

This bookexplores health and leisure as holistic phenomenon with individual and socialdimensions. Contributors to this edited volume explore the physical, mental,emotional, sexual and social aspects of health and leisure as well as theinfluence of moral and religious principles on these individuals. Theconnections between the individual and the social structure, socialintegration, the social division of labor, and the natural environment are alsoanalysed.

Thevolume studies this relationship from a range of disciplinary backgrounds,including sociology, psychology, psychiatry, medical sciences, sport sciences,education, policy making, and from both national and internationalperspectives. As such, the collection will be of interest to scholars andstudents across a range of disciplines, including Leisure Studies, HealthStudies, Health Promotion, Psychology and Mental Health, Sociology and SportStudies.

ZsuzsannaBenko is Head of the Institute of Applied Health Sciences and Health Promotionat the Juhasz Gyula Faculty of Education, University of Szeged, Hungary. Shehas a pioneering and leading role in the theory, methodology andinstitutionalisation of Health Promotion in Hungary, including a special focuson leisure.

Ishwar Modi is the founding father ofleisure studies in India. He is Director of India International Institute ofSocial Sciences and a member of the Executive Committee of ISA and has alsobeen re-elected President of ISA Research Committee on Sociology of Leisure. Heis also a Senior Fellow and Founding Member of the World Leisure Academy.

KlaraTarko is Vice-Head of the Institute of Applied Health Sciences and HealthPromotion, and Vice-Dean for Education at the?Juhasz Gyula Faculty ofEducation,?University of Szeged,?Hungary.?She was electedvice-president of the Executive Committee of ISA RC13 Sociology of Leisure (2014-2018).
