Examining Maxine Greene's existentialist concept of freedom as it relates to discourses embedded within a curriculum of action, Rasheed (philosophical foundations of education, Long Island U.-C. W. Post Campus) criticizes back-to-basics and top-down schooling as premised on an inadequate definition of society, and suggests alternative ways of knowing that emphasize possibility, hope, change, and freedom.
