Flow assurance is currently the most important topic in oil and gas production. This book discuses the fundamentals relevant for precipitation and deposition of solids. It deals individually with the four main problem solids: aspahltene, paraffin wax, gas hydrate and inorganic solids. The appendices contain additional detailed infromation, making the main text more readable. The main audiences for this book are engineers and scientists in oil companies, service companies and engineering companies, that need to become familiar with a new topic.
Jon Steinar Gudmundsson received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering in 1977 from the University of Birmingham, Birmingham, UK. He was employed as a Research Engineer and Coordinator at Orkustofnun (National Energy Authority), Geothermal Division, Reykjavik, Iceland during the late 1970s and 1980s, and between 1981 and 1985 held various positions at the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Stanford University, Stanford, California, USA. From 1991 until his retirement in 2014, he was Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Department of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics, Trondheim, Norway.
