New Horizons for Second-order Cybernetics

Contributors from a wide range of fields review the current state of second-order cybernetics as a fundamental revolution in science; cybernetics, reflexivity, and second-order science; the cybernetic foundations of psychology; consciousness as self-description in differences; design research as a variety of second-order cybernetic practice; and black box theater: second order cybernetics and naturalism in rehearsal and performance. Among specific topics are connecting the second-order cybernetics revolution with genetic epistemology, the too often overlooked complexity of the tension between subject and object, what cybernetics can learn from design, and embracing realists without embracing realism.
