Body-based Intimacy ― A Neurobiological Integration of Couples and Sex Therapy

Body-Based Intimacy is a manual written for couples’ and sex therapists advancing a "full-spectrum" approach to deep healing and relationship and sexual enhancement, through partners’ bodily attunement. Through a detailed description of interpersonal neurobiology and affect-regulation theory and research, illuminated by therapy vignettes, this book reveals the long-term effects of early attachment programming on shaping adult libido. It explores a variety of relational issues including trust issues, chronic conflict, jealousy, and betrayal, and sexual issues like differences in desire, orgasm or erection difficulties, and porn abuse. The final chapter includes a series of process-oriented exercises as handouts that therapists can utilize in their own practice.

Stella Resnick, PhD, is a clinical psychologist, public speaker, seminar leader, and AASECT-certified sex therapist, clinical supervisor, and CE provider in private practice in Beverly Hills, California. She trains and supervises therapists in her "full-spectrum" approach to couples and sex therapy. Stella earned her doctorate at Indiana University, interned at UC Medical School’s Langley Porter NPI in San Francisco, and trained in gestalt therapy with founders, Fritz Perls and Laura Perls. She served as president of the Western Region of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.
