Creative Fingerplays & Action Rhymes ― An Index and Guide to Their Use

Each chapter defines a separate developmental period and contains approximately 10 fingerplays or action rhymes appropriate for that age. Included among the 100 examples are those especially suited for E.S.L. (English as a Second Language) students and for special needs children. Also included is a subject and first-line index of 3,000 additional fingerplays and action rhymes you will find in collected editions.

JEFF DEFTY is a children's librarian at the Eugene Public Library, Oregon. A preschool teacher from 1980 to 1986, he is freelance storyteller, a musician, and the creator and coproducer of The Wishing Well storytelling program series on Eugene's community access channel. In addition, Defy is a member of the National Association for the Preservation and Perpetuation of Storytelling (NAPPS), the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and the Oregon Library Association.
