The twelfth ECPPM conference will continue the focus on digitalisation in the architecture, engineering, construction, and facility management sector, as ECPPM has been doing since 1994. Linked Data will have a special focus at the event as a conference topic as the interest, adoption, and potential of Linked Data is getting momentum in the research community.
The conference will take place while the adoption of digitalisation globally is increasing in handling the built environment, and as several initiates are made in many European countries to stimulate or mandate the adoption of BIM in public projects. In Denmark BIM was mandated in 2007 in public projects, and has demonstrated that changes are needed in the current practice in both processes, agreement, technology, handling of information, competencies as well in applications in order to release its full potential. These conference proceedings will be of interest to researchers and scientists from both public and private organisations from all over the world.
Jan Karlshoj is Associate Professor at the?Technical University of Denmark. He has more than 20 years experience in consulting engineering companies, and has participated in research, development and deployment activities on interoperability, ie a seamless digital communication with high semantic content. He has experience in the design of structures of office buildings and cultural institutions.
He has participated in research and development projects on digital construction, economic gains through the use of IT in construction, sustainable solutions based on the use of building information modeling in Danish, Nordic and international level. He has participated in and led standardization activities of ISO. He's participation in the development of standards in building smart, several of which are adopted by ISO and CEN as official standards.
Raimar J. Scherer is head of the Institute for Construction Informatics at the Technische Universitat Dresden, Germany. Raimar is chairperson of ECPPM 2018.
