Fintech in Islamic Finance

The book examines Fintech in Islamic finance from both theoretical and practical perspectives, including relevant cases studies. While building on the existing theories on Fintech and its applications in specific sectors of the Islamic financial services industry with the emergence of regulatory frameworks in some jurisdictions, the book discusses the current application of Fintech in promoting financial inclusion within the sphere of Islamic finance, the legal and Shari?ah parameters, and identifies some future directions for policy makers.

Syed Nazim Ali is Research Professor and the Director for the Center for Islamic Economics and Finance, College of Islamic Studies, at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar Foundation. Dr. Ali has spent the last thirty years spearheading research in Islamic finance and faith-based initiates in finance. He was Founding Director of the Islamic Finance Project (IFP) at Harvard Law School, Harvard University since 1995.

Umar A. Oseni is the Executive Director (Legal & Compliance) and the General Counsel of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM), a supranational financial institution headquartered in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to this, he was an Associate Professor of Law and Regulation of Islamic Finance at the International Islamic University Malaysia. Umar was also a visiting fellow at the Islamic Legal Studies Program of the Harvard Law School, Harvard University from 2011 - 2012.
