Amari's Great Adventures ― The Magical Playground

"Amari's Great Adventures: The Magical Playground," is the first book in a children's series featuring Amari and his larger-than-life animal friends. Colorful illustrations and authentic characters bring Amari's African American and Nigerian heritage to life. As the story unfolds, the reader meets Otu the lion, Ifiok the tiger, Lily the elephant and Henrietta the giraffe. Amari loves playing with his friends, yet his imagination drives his desire to see all the places he could go. When he learns about a magical playground, Amari decides he and his friends must go on this adventure. Now he has to convince his parents to allow him to go. Once his parents say "yes," Amari invites his friends to join him for a day full of fun and excitement. Upon their arrival and just as he had hoped, they discover the playground was magical, and Amari and his friends have an adventure beyond anything they could have ever hoped or dreamed! When his day draws to a close, Amari is very proud of himself as his bravery and vivid imagination led him and his friends on the first of their many great adventures together.

A new author in the area of children's literature, Deborah Delois Harris is the second oldest daughter in a family of 10 children and the first in her family to graduate from college. She earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Arkansas in 1983 and a master's degree in Adult Education and Distance Learning from the University of Phoenix in 2004. Deborah spent her formative years in Camden, Arkansas but after enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1984, she has lived and worked all over the world to include Kaiserslautern, Germany and Panama City, Panama. Retiring after 20 years of military service, Deborah currently lived in Maryland and works in Washington, D.C. as a Career Development Officer for the Department of Defense.
