作者簡介
Patrick Brighton, M.D., FACS, grew up in the mountains outside Albuquerque, New Mexico. He earned degrees in chemical engineering and medicine from the University of New Mexico, and he has been in the practice of general and trauma surgery since 1994.
Patrick moved to Colorado in 2003 with his wife, Kimberley, to pursue their outdoors interests. They travel frequently, especially to South America and Nepal. Together, they have climbed, kayaked, and participated in adventure races around the world, including the 2000 Ecochallenge in Borneo, Malaysia. The two are avid ice climbers and alpinists. They tend to seek out remote ice climbs and alpine objectives. Patrick lost a fingertip to frostbite after summiting Ama Dablam in the Nepal Himalaya in 2012.
Patrick is currently completing an online degree in Spanish, and he teaches wilderness medicine (in Spanish) to mountain guides in Peru. He is a member of the Ouray Mountain Rescue team in Ouray, Colorado. The team typically performs several dozen rescues per year in the mountains of southwest Colorado.
