In Alpine, Alabama, the Bridge Club is the place to be. It may be a small town, but they play games every day, and all the big names in town like to compete. Recent young widow, Gracie Thies, is not a big name in Alpine. In fact, she hasn't lived there in 15 years and had never planned to come back because of the embarrassing way she left. Needing a place to settle and get her life back together after her husband's unexpected death, Gracie has come home to spend time with her grandmother. Her "Mamaw" loves to go to the Bridge Club, and Gracie has been playing as her partner.
