Look Up!: The story of Naomi and Ruth through the eyes of caregiving

Naomi lost her husband and her only two sons, which left her in a place of bitterness. Her widowed daughter in law Ruth, was a young woman who could have easily started over after losing her husband, however she took the unfamiliar path and returned to Naomi's homeland with her.

The life of a caregiver is the same- you begin walking the familiar journey with family, friends, and loved ones and then life happens and changes your course. In 2014 Ruth's journey became my journey after I lost my job and returned home to take care of my grandmother. What I thought would be easy, turned into a difficult journey filled with unexpected curve balls and heartache. The only way for me to get through and thrive along this part of my journey was to learn how to Look Up, instead of letting the curve balls hit me in the face. My grandmother, like Naomi, had to learn that God loved her so much that he would give her the help she needed at the time she needed it the most. When things became cloudy in my life, I chose to look up to the sky and see a rainbow of God's promises. Every caregiver needs that ray of hope, the one that reminds them that everything is going to work out just fine. God proved that!
