商品簡介
Solace is a book with elements of memoir, mindfulness and rediscovery (or discovery) of nature. Catherine Drea reflects on life and growing older, along with ways of seeing and ways of being, with a focus on childhood grief, loss and the lifelong reverberations of losing a parent.
Alongside these topics are moments of celebration, of strength among women and family. Drea considers what it means to live in a 'modern Ireland', to find a place to call home and growing older - and making peace with this! By accepting being 'good enough', each of us is free to find our own way to/our own source of solace.
Solace takes inspiration from the seasons, dedicating spring chapters to pieces on reclaiming curiosity, our ancestors, and blossoming creatively.
Summer chapters consider the inner landscape, wandering and awakenings, being immersed in water and thoughts of heaven.
Autumn brings twists and turns along the path, noticing the light, thoughts of family and lost ones, women's community and society.
Finally, winter is a breathing space, a hibernation, thoughts of healing, creativity and solace, long walks, and returning light. Many of the themes will resonate with those in search of solace through creativity and the natural world.
