Two Maine farm boys, Henry and Samuel Plummer, encounter a pair of murderous cattle thieves who kidnap Samuel. Years later, guilt-ridden Henry begins a lifetime journey in search of his older brother. Finally, after failing to find gold in Idaho Territory, newly appointed sheriff Henry Plummer reunites with Samuel, who is on the run from the law. As the brothers try to make peace with their traumatic past and form a new friendship, Henry battles rumors that he is the leader of a notorious gang known as "The Innocents."

From the gold fields of California to the Idaho and Nevada Territories, the Plummer brothers witness the rise of the Pony Express, battle Pawnee and Blackfeet Indians and experience the turmoil of vigilante justice.
