In Agbowo Oyo State, the main focus area of this study, all sort of gambling activities are being carried out: sport betting, pool, play stations, table tennis among others. A cursory look at the location of study indicates that gambling is influenced by other activities including; presence of beer parlor and paraga joint (a joint where local herbs both in form of drinks and concoction are sold and bought), local food canteen, and other gaming activities.
Even though some believe its harmless, the fact that it has now become habitual for youth to gamble, some going to the extent of stealing their parents and friends money as well as engaging in other criminal activities just to participate in it now makes it a social problem which needs to be seriously addressed and work upon to have a better, peaceful, and stable society. Thus it is the goal of this research to find out the conditions, cause, consequences and as well a means of curbing this phenomenon under study.
