Oral Examination in Cats and Dogs

Oral diseases are common in cats and dogs. However, the awareness levels of the patients and the fact that oral examination is not among the routine procedures in most veterinary clinics cause delays in the diagnosis and treatment processes of many diseases.Intraoral and extraoral examinations provide systematic evaluation of the patient. Subjective and objective symptoms encountered during the examination should be carefully evaluated. During oral examination, in addition to oral cavity diseases, systemic diseases manifesting in intraoral tissues are also detected.In the light of this information, periodic oral examination in cats and dogs allows early diagnosis of many diseases and early initiation of treatment processes.
