"Sophia and Alex Learn About Sports" is one of eleven volumes in the "Sophia and Alex" series, written by Author Denise Bourgeois-Vance and illustrated by Artist Damon Danielson. The book opens with their grandfather taking Sophia, Alex, and their older brother, Noah, to a baseball game. They learn about rules and the importance of good sportsmanship as they join a soccer team near their home. Sophia and Alex make new friends on the team and play their first match.
The 32-page illustrated book demonstrates role playing on a team, whether it be from watching others play a sport or embracing their own responsibility as a team member. They learn to play fairly and follow instructions from their coach, as well as help teammates improve their game.
