The Rainbow That Lost its Colours

In the dreamtime the rainbow shone high in the sky every day along side of the bright yellow sun. Rainbow colours painted the land with the green fields and pretty flowers and animals. The creatures on the land showed off all the beautiful rainbow colours with pride in their fur, fins and feathers. The oceans and the sky glistened. From the verdant green of the forests, to the vibrant red of the desert where creatures both big and small, wore the colours proudly, reflecting the beauty of the rainbow's gift.

The plain white clouds brooded in envy. They had no pretty colours, so they huffed and puffed and conjured a mighty storm. Thunder clapped and lightning crackled. Wind blew and rain pelted. The weather had changed. The noisy, windy storm chased away the sun and the beautiful rainbow. Everything was dark and dismal. All the creatures hid. As the storm clouds rumbled slowly away, their energy spent, the sun peeked timidly from behind some lonely grumpy clouds, but where was the rainbow? Will the rainbow return and fill the sky with colour again?
