True Faith: The believer's journey from self-reliance to God-reliance

Christian homes face daily challenges: family relationships, social and emotional pressures, workplace tensions, health scares and uncertain futures. They must contend with the realities of this world - both in decision-making and overcoming obstacles.

So, is there an optimal way for believers to live in an uncertain world? Is there perhaps a formula available? Is faith the answer?

The answer lies in the question, what impresses God most? Scripture is clear that faith is the only life-saving power from God. This means that believers are saved by grace through faith, not by their own efforts, and then they walk by faith for the rest of their earthly lives. This is the way to live - trusting God wholly.

There is a marked difference between the lives of believers walking by faith and those of non-believers. That difference is a total reliance on God, an inner peace, a calm throughout the storm and constant worship of the Father they trust.

From Genesis to Revelation, we learn that the best way for believers to live is to put our trust in God. When we do, Scripture says we will be rewarded. But if trusting God is easy, then why the reward? A reward is given to the believer who lays down their claims to self-sufficiency - living by faith is easier said than done because it is in the nature of every person to first rely on themselves, their decision-making and their own abilities.

Faith in God is a supernatural way of living on earth - and it carries a promise of blessings - it's no wonder that the book of Romans says the righteous shall live by trusting God (Romans 1:17).
