Orthognathic surgery in syndromic patients

Orthognathic surgery is essential for syndromic patients with craniofacial deformities, aiming to correct functional and aesthetic issues caused by conditions like Crouzon, Apert, and Treacher Collins syndromes. These patients often face challenges such as speech, chewing, and breathing difficulties due to jaw malalignment. The surgery helps realign the jawbones to improve facial symmetry and function, including better speech and mastication. However, it involves complexities due to abnormal anatomy, limited bone and soft tissue, and potential coexisting medical conditions. Careful preoperative planning with advanced imaging and a multidisciplinary team is crucial.
