Bear the Brave

Bear is a big, boisterous, over-anxious dog, who was rescued from the animal refuge by a busy family. He couldn't believe his luck when they said: We'll take that one. We like his spirit. But of all the pooches in the shelter for abandoned dogs, why did these angels choose him?

As Bear settled into his new home and grew to appreciate each unique member of his adoptive family, he yearned to face his fears and become Bear the Brave. But, as always, his doubts bubbled away just below the surface because, in Bear's own words, he was a wuss, a wimp, a lily-livered scaredy-cat of a dog.

In moments of disaster, like violent thunder storms, Bear looked to Marvellous Mumma because she always knew what to do, but when his out-of-control anxiety sent him into a tail spin, Song Girl, the eldest, was the one who taught him how to calm his fears by singing away his troubles with her deep, husky voice.

Even though she was only eleven, Wise Cookie filled the house with mouth-watering smells from the kitchen. But she was much more than a great cook. She had the knack of producing words of wisdom at just at the right moment.

Then there was the little brother, Billy Builder, who loved to create the most elaborate structures from hundreds of little coloured plastic bricks. Even though he was the youngest, when Bear was in deep trouble, it was Billy who came to the rescue.
