商品簡介
Masks, Mirrors, and Reflections is a collection of polyphonic poems that is musical and unique because each piece contains more than one voice - and therefore more than one perspective - on the themes it explores. Among these themes are life and death, love and the absence of love, truth and lies, beauty and the longing for beauty, disillusionment, hope, identity, magic, and creativity in its many forms.
The various voices evoke characters we love and can identify with as well as characters we don't like but who hold up the mirror to our flaws. Some of the voices we can clearly distinguish are critical and show us what we humans have done to the planet, its species, and to each other. Other voices are philosophical or even optimistic and offer alternatives or reveal glimpses of a better world that may still be possible to achieve and in which imagination and love are thriving. While some of the voices are sure of themselves and their values and beliefs, others are still trying to figure out who they are and how best to live in today's world with its many challenges.
This book is for people who have struggled with love, with loss, with the death of a loved one, or with finding their place in the world. But it is also for people who love music, dance, visual arts, and literature, and who have imagination and are willing to use it to envision a happier world.
