It is a general and fundamental book for the students who are beginners in the field of organic chemistry. They require a smooth and coherent start in the journey of learning this field. In this book, general and basic aspects are covered which are required in understanding and learning of organic chemistry. Apart from this, the book also includes the study of fundamental organic molecules i.e. hydrocarbons which are classified chapter-wise as saturated hydrocarbons (alkanes & cycloalkanes), unsaturated hydrocarbons (alkenes & alkynes) and aromatic hydrocarbons (arenes).The first two units deal with the fundamental concepts which would develop interest in students towards organic chemistry and raise their level to comprehend deeper mechanistic aspects of organic reactions. The 3rd & 4th units cover the basic stereochemical aspects of organic chemistry. The 5th & 6th units deal with the study of aliphatic hydrocarbons. The last two units constitute the study of aromatic hydrocarbons. Efforts have been made to present the book in a simple language which is comprehensible to the undergraduate students with major or minor in chemistry.
