Predictors of eating disorders

The book describes the recovery process of 56 women who had suffered from anorexia and/or bulimia in the past. These women describe their own path out of the illness as 'experts' and comment on the following questions: How do former sufferers explain the recovery process? Do they believe in a complete cure? From today's perspective, where do former sufferers see remnants of the eating disorder? How do they feel about relapses and symptom shifts? What advice would they give to those currently suffering from an eating disorder? What have they learned from their experience with eating disorders? Why did those in the spontaneous remission group not seek therapy? Finally, these results are compared with existing studies. The book is intended to appeal to sufferers, relatives and professionals alike and to spark curiosity about the different perspectives.
