Sora Takahashi thought her life in Tokyo was awful. Her mother is a religious fanatic; her boyfriend cheats on her; she can barely hold down her two jobs and afford rent. Her only friend is her little sister, Rei.

That all changes when the sun turns black and ash rains down without end. The event is global; thousands drop dead for no apparent reason, with their eyes turning pure white. Then the shaking comes. Sora joins an unstable band of survivors as they try to flee Tokyo as monsters and gods from Japanese folklore claim the world for themselves. To make it to safety, Sora will have to stand and face not only the demons that pursue her but also the ones that feed on her trauma from the inside.
