"Plotinus the Divinemind, Being the Treatises of the Fifth Ennead" presents a foundational exploration of the nature of reality, intelligence, and the divine. This volume, part of the celebrated translation by Stephen MacKenna, focuses on the Fifth Ennead, which primarily addresses the Intellectual-Principle-the second of the three primary hypostases in Plotinian metaphysics. Often referred to as the Divine Mind, this realm serves as the locus of the Platonic Forms and the essential bridge between the absolute unity of the One and the discursive realm of the Soul.
Through these profound treatises, Plotinus investigates the relationship between thought and existence, the hierarchy of being, and the path of the human spirit toward intellectual enlightenment. The work provides deep insights into the mystical and dialectical aspects of Neoplatonism, touching upon the origin of divine beings and the structure of the cosmos. As a key text in the history of Western philosophy, it offers readers a rigorous yet spiritual framework for understanding the nature of consciousness and the divine order. This collection remains an essential resource for scholars of classical philosophy, theology, and the enduring traditions of ancient thought.
