Thirty years ago, she solved the mystery of the Old Clock. But she missed the secret.
It is the summer of 1960. River Heights has changed. The dirt roads are paved, the diners are neon-lit, and the famous "Girl Detective" is now forty-six years old. Nancy Drew is a respected lawyer who thinks her days of chasing villains in the rain are long behind her.
But the past has a way of echoing.
When twelve-year-old Penny Corning-the daughter of Nancy's childhood friend, Helen-arrives for the summer, she finds the Drew house too quiet for her liking. Penny, bored and curious, explores the attic and discovers a dusty brass key that has remained hidden since 1930.
Downstairs, the Topham family has returned. Richard Topham, now a desperate and impoverished man, is convinced that Nancy cheated his family out of their fortune three decades ago. He believes a second treasure was hidden inside Josiah Crowley's famous Old Clock-and he is willing to tear down the town to find it.
The Adventure:
From the ticking mechanisms of an antique timepiece to the crumbling ruins of the Crowley Estate, Nancy and Penny must race against a demolition crew to uncover the truth.
They will have to outsmart a sleek black Cadillac, decode a thirty-year-old cipher, and rely on the one thing that hasn't changed in thirty years: the roar of the Blue Roadster.
