Written by Iranian author and filmmaker Reza Allamehzadeh, now based in the Netherlands, this memoir recounts one of the most controversial political cases of the late Pahlavi era. He explains that he wrote the book to preserve an accurate historical record for younger generations and to challenge distorted accounts of the case.
The book describes his arrest in October 1973, his interrogation and torture, military trials, death sentence, its commutation to life imprisonment, and his release in November 1978. Allamehzadeh argues that the allegation of plotting to assassinate Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi was unfounded. Instead, he recounts discussions about using a public event to draw attention to political repression and a proposal to take Queen Farah hostage in exchange for the release of political prisoners-a plan that was never carried out. He also describes how SAVAK informants infiltrated those connected to the discussions, leading to the arrests and the case.
