What is spiritual dryness? Is it something to be endured and overcome or is it a gift from God? If you are feeling spiritually dry, so have I. But I've learned to recognize that God has led me into the desert season to accomplish 3 main purposes: (1) to fall deeper in love with Him, (2) to strengthen and build our heart-character, and (3) to ignite in us a passion for global missions and revival in our day.
When I wrote Walking Passionately Through Seasons of Spiritual Dryness: Dry and Barren Land, I thought it was an encouraging reminder of the truths I already know. Now, seventeen years later, it is a blueprint for living. To live courageously through times of suffering and times of joy. But most of all, how to put one foot in front of the other during the "in-between" times. These are seasons of spiritual dryness. The key to being content in all circumstances is living here, in the messy middle.
