Princess Gina has made up her mind: she's going to be an astronaut. But when she comes zooming through the castle halls in her cardboard helmet - and crashes right into the King's mid-morning cupcake - her father isn't so sure. "Princesses are for tea parties," he tells her, "not rocket ships."
Heartbroken but not defeated, Gina retreats to her room, where star charts cover every wall and her loyal cat, Sir Fluffington, is already dressed for launch. That's when her big brother, Prince Leo, steps in with a plan of his own. If knights can train and wizards can study, he reasons, why can't a princess train to be an astronaut too?
So begins Space Camp - Leo's homemade academy for future explorers. Together, the royal siblings drop feathers and rocks off the balcony to study gravity, practice "lunar landings" in piles of hay, taste-test questionable tubes of Space Broccoli, and spin Gina dizzy in a wooden crate rocket. Lesson by lesson, day by day, Gina works harder than she ever has - running laps, studying maps, and refusing to give up.
Watching from the tower, the King begins to see what his children already know: that dreams aren't something a crown can grant or deny - they're something you earn. And when Gina has finally proven just how far her hard work can take her, the King has a surprise of his own waiting in the East Tower: a beautiful moon-shaped hot air balloon, ready for her first voyage among the stars.
Prince Leo and the Space Camp is a warm, funny, richly illustrated picture book about persistence, sibling teamwork, and the idea that big dreams belong to everyone - princesses included. It's part of The Prince Leo Collection, a series following a young prince with a big heart as he learns what it means to grow into a good king, alongside his sister Gina and little brother Gabe.
Perfect for young readers ages 4-8, this story is an encouraging read for any child who's ever been told to dream a little smaller - and a gentle nudge for grown-ups to help kids reach higher instead.
