There are five undiscovered planets in our solar system. And one of them is running out of time.

Fourteen-year-old Melanie Williams is beginning her freshman year in Ashboro, Massachusetts, with the same concerns as most teenagers: surviving high school, running cross-country, spending time with her best friend Jackie, and hoping senior Tim O'Connor might finally notice her as more than just a teammate.

But while Melanie's life seems perfectly ordinary, something extraordinary is happening around her.

Across the country, hospitals are reporting patients with unidentifiable blood types-and a strange green tint no one can explain. Even more disturbing, some of those patients are disappearing. As the reports spread, Melanie begins noticing things that don't add up, especially when it comes to the two people closest to her: Tim and Jackie.

The truth is bigger than anything Melanie could have imagined.

Hidden within our solar system are five planets humans have yet to discover. On one of them, a dying world called Threa has spent decades secretly studying Earth. Its scientists have engineered human forms from Earth DNA and sent them here to live unnoticed among the population. Their youngest creations were sent as children, raised on Earth while being carefully watched.

They are known as the Youngest Arrivals.

And Melanie has grown up beside them.

As Earth moves closer to discovering the hidden planets and evidence of the arrivals begins surfacing, Threa's leaders face an impossible decision: abandon Earth-or claim it for themselves. Meanwhile, Melanie's friendship with Jackie and growing relationship with Tim pull her deeper into a secret she was never supposed to uncover.
