商品簡介
Sugar, Salt, and Sunshine is a farm-to-table family cookbook that celebrates fresh ingredients, joyful cooking, and the warmth of shared meals. Born and raised in Colmar, Alsace, France, I grew up surrounded by the flavors and traditions of my mother's kitchen, where I first discovered the magic of food. At nineteen, I moved to California and was captivated by the Bay Area's incredible culinary diversity from Chinese and Japanese to Italian and Mexican cuisine which now inspires my cooking. Using French techniques as the foundation, I transform these flavors into seasonal, approachable recipes rooted in the freshest ingredients picked daily at farmers' markets.
This book was created with families in mind, especially young children. My six-year-old son loves to help in the kitchen, and many recipes are designed so that children can take part, whether stirring, sprinkling, or shaping. I believe that appetite is built during cooking, not just at the table, and involving children in the process teaches them to appreciate flavors, ingredients, and the joy of preparing a meal together.
In addition to recipes, the book includes poems and short stories drawn from my childhood, memories of my mother, and moments shared with my son. These pieces are written to inspire both adults and children encouraging families to explore new ingredients, taste vegetables they might otherwise avoid, and see cooking as a joyful, creative experience. Sugar, Salt, and Sunshine is more than a cookbook; it is an invitation to slow down, cook together, and celebrate food as a language of love and memory.
