In 2016, the Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) enters its 45th year. Coincidentally, this will also be the 40th anniversary of the Global Design Awards (GDA). In celebration of these prestigious institutions, the 'Design NextGen Awards' and 'Best Design Teacher' awards have been established to acknowledge the importance of design education in the academic world. In addition to this 2016 will be the year that HKDA launches the 'Lifetime Honorary Award': an accolade dedicated to Dr Kan Tai Keung, who has contributed to the design industry for almost 50 years.
