自2014年3月27日習近平主席訪問聯合國教育、科學及文化組織(United Nations Educational，Scientific，Cultural Organization，以下簡稱UNESCO)總部並發表重要演講以來，中國與聯合國教科文組織的合作便進入歷史最好時期。2021年恰逢中華人民共和國恢復在UNESCO合法席位五十周年，基於這一重要歷史節點，本書秉持“新中國原則”、“互利雙贏原則”以及“重大問題和重大專題原則”，挑選UNESCO對中國教育影響深遠且極具代表性的教育理念和教育業務實踐合作活動進行回顧，同時分析新中國恢復UNESCO合法席位五十年間，中國教育如何通過UNESCO走向世界教育舞臺，UNESCO如何通過中國教育實現自身的宗旨和使命。 本書共有六章內容：第一章“導論”對本書的研究問題、研究背景和研究框架等做了概要介紹。第二章“UNESCO機構框架介紹”主要概述了UNESCO的願景和使命，UNESCO的領導機構，UNESCO的工作內容，UNESCO的教育部門，UNESCO的教育功能與教育服務。第三章“UNESCO的關鍵教育領域”主要對UNESCO對我國教育影響較大的四個關鍵教育領域(包括：終身教育、全民教育、全納教育、可持續發展教育)進行理論背景的梳理，並對這四個關鍵教育領域的重要檔進行解讀，同時也對其在中國的理解和落實情況進行了必要的分析。第四章“中國與UNESCO關係的演進及其教育合作”一方面用縱向歷史的視角回溯“中國與UNESCO的關係演進”，主要回顧了自1971年新中國恢復UNESCO合法席位以來與其合作的歷史進程，並以其中的重大事件勾勒出中國在雙方關係發展的不同時期所扮演的角色；另一方面，本章用橫向專題的視角總結“中國與UNESCO在教育領域的具體合作”，探討中國與UNESCO在教育領域合作的廣泛程度，並以此勾勒出雙方在教育合作中的主要合作主題與合作形式。第五章“在中國設立的四所UNESCO教育二類中心及其發展”通過案例的形式聚焦聯合國教科文組織在中國的四所教育二類中心的設立和發展情況，以此來探討中國與UNESCO在教育合作中的深入程度。第六章“UNESCO與中國教育的未來展望”對整個研究做了簡要的總結，並對“UNESCO與中國教育”的未來發展進行了展望。
