A Sensational Encounter with High Socialist China is a recollection of the historic visit of fourteen American students (and one Canadian) to China in 1971. The visit was one of the first approved for American scholars after the Chinese Communist Party came to power in 1949 and occurred prior to President Nixon’s famous trip (as well as that of a second group of scholars) in 1972. One of these students, Paul Pickowicz, kept a journal and photographically documented the trip. This book is a personal account of the events leading up to their visa approvals as well as those that occurred during the journey itself. 聖典中的聖典；歐美商業時代的新聖經。 與《道德經》、《聖經》並列全世界翻譯版本最多的三大經典。 「薄伽梵」在印度的靈性傳承裡，代表的是上主在地球上的化身；《薄伽梵歌》即意為上主之歌（The Song of God），係記載上主克里希納（Lord Krishna）與阿朱納（Arjuna）王子間一場奇妙而不可思議的對話——關於靈性知識的揭示，是超越宗教的宇宙真相和人生哲理。 《薄伽梵歌》是最重要的印度教修行聖典，同時也是許多印度大修行者最重視的一部經典，對今日之印度乃至全世界的很多層面，都有著極大的影響。聖雄甘地在他的自傳中說：「真理是至高的原則，而《薄伽梵歌》乃是指向真理之知識中，最精妙的書。」 《薄伽梵歌》出自史詩《摩訶婆羅多》（Mahabharata），全書十八章，共七百行詩句。《摩訶婆羅多》敘述同為俱盧族的持國王（Dhritarashtra）百子與般度（Pandu）五子，兄弟之間為爭奪王權而進行的一場戰爭。 戰爭在俱盧之野進行。由於持國王眼不能視，毗耶娑願意賜給他視力，讓他看到戰爭的情況。但持國王不忍親眼看到親族間的殺戮，毗耶娑遂將靈視的力量賜予他的大臣山佳亞，由山佳亞將戰況敘述給持國王。《薄伽梵歌》敘述的就是開戰前，克里希納與阿朱納王子間的一場靈性對話，藉由山佳亞之口說與持國王聆聽。 在這場對話之後，接著的就是為期十八天的戰爭，戰況空前激烈，雙方死傷慘重。持國王一方全部罹難，般度一方也幾乎只剩下般度五子存活。 俱盧之戰是歷史上的戰役，同時也是心靈的戰場。《薄伽梵歌》中的般度五子，代表的是我們認同的個性，而持國百子正是我們所不認同的陰影。不論認同與否，都是小我的一部份。小我既是造化所為，所以也是虛妄而不永恆的。克里希納在《薄伽梵歌》中一再地提醒我們，應平等看待一切二元對立的事物：好惡、成敗、榮辱、冷熱等皆然；從內在捨棄，不執著，並時時專注於至上。在《薄伽梵歌》中，克里希納不親身參與戰爭，卻擔任阿朱納的馬夫，正意味著我們應讓上主成為我們的馭者。 總結來說，《薄伽梵歌》有兩個主要啟示：第一是捨棄與臣服。捨棄是放下對外在事物、內在欲望與感官感受的執著；臣服則是更進一步放下自我，將自己交給上主，全然地接受上主為我們所作的任何安排。 第二個啟示是克里希納在這場對話的最後對阿朱納說的：「……你是我所摯愛的」，這是上主對我們的保證。我們原本就是上主的子女，在世

《中国植物志》第27卷（1979）中的唐松草属收载了67种，英文版Flora of China（2001）的唐松草属收载了76种。至今我国唐松草属的种已经增至98种，急需进行修订，此即为编写《中国唐松草属植物》的主要目的。 本书作者王文采院士对中国唐松草属的演化和分类方面的新贡献，与过去德国专家Prantl （1887）、美国专家B. Boivin （1994），和日本专家M. Tamura（1995）关于此属的演化、分类上的观点、方法都有不相同。 著名植物科学画家孙英宝先生为本书绘制了101幅精准的图版（其中对花部器官萼片、雄蕊、心皮都有放大的插图），这在国内植物学著作中是罕见的。并且王文采先生为每一种编写了中名，拉丁学名，文献引证，中、英文的形态描述，地理分布，生长环境、经济用途等介绍。 本书研究了唐松草属的重要形态特征及其演化趋势，理清了唐松草属中原始种、原始群和进化群之间的关系。可充分帮助中外读者了解此属植物间的亲缘关系和同等的演化水平，以及对此属植物的鉴定，是对中国植物学基础研究领域的一次非常有价值的补充和完善。正因为其重要的学术价值，本书获得了“中国科学院植物研究所系统与进化植物学国家重点实验室学术著作出版基金”的资助。
