A skilled observer and noted scholar of Chinese culture, Tsuen-Hsuin Tsien has contributed profoundly to the West's understanding of the East and vice versa. This practical based research explores space, sites and interventions; in particular, site-specific installation of art works, involving the physical, virtual space and interactive theatre space within new media art.

Here is a collection of sixteen critical papers which inquire into literary problems found in works of eight British authors (Milton, Blake, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Shelley, Keats, Arnold, and Graham Greene) as well as four American authors (Emerson, Frost, O’Neill, and Hemingway). Each critical inquiry herein is imagined as a wind made up of the critic’s breath while an author’s work is imagined as an endurable rock on which the wind blows. Readers may get wind of the author or the critic and may know how the wind blows and where it lies, but they are expected not to expect any wind to change the rock noticeably. What we want is merely the readers’ attention and we hope their own winds will duly come to help keep the world in winds.

Qi-Deng Sheng was one of the most philosophically incisive creative writers on the Taiwan island in the 1960s and 70s, and one of the most controversial figures in local literary history. Criticism of his work is polarized, in a sort of tug of war between “collective consciousness” and “individual will” in the cultural landscape of a rapidly modernizing society. As the hive mind buzzed, Qi-Deng Sheng tuned out and listened to his inner voice. As he explains in the above quotation, he regarded writing as a creative process that differentiated the ego from the group, and reality from falsehood. In other words, he wrote to build a sanctuary for his individuality. On the one hand, he was committed to conveying his personal beliefs through his works, rejecting vulgarity wherever he found it: in social groups, cultural trends, even literary critics. Essentials in the understanding of the development of pre-Qin philosophy. The Mingjia (名家, School of Names) is a notional grouping of philosophers first recorded as such in the Shiji. Their identifying feature was a concern with linguistic issues particularly involving the correct use of names. The group, as listed in the Han Shu, comprised seven men living between the sixth and third centuries BCE. Only four of these men— Deng Xi, Yin Wen, Hui Shi, and Gongsun Long— have extant writings attributed to them, and in three of these there are issues of authenticity. The University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) of the University of Hong Kong presents the Chinese painting exhibition Tradition to Contemporary: Ink Painting and Artistic Development in 20th-century China. The exhibition is curated from artworks within the museum’s permanent collection. Works trace the evolution of ink painting in Hong Kong, and include many of the masters that have helped to build the city’s art scene and museum collections. The exhibition and its associated catalogue offers audiences a broad overview of the provenance and aesthetic quality of individual works, and the cultural interactions among twentieth-century Chinese artists, curators, collectors and scholars in Hong Kong, mainland China and abroad. Drawing on extensive historical studies of the lives and works of distinctive yet understudied sinologists in the Czech Republic, Mongolia, Poland, and Russia, this volume takes readers on a journey of exploration and rediscovery of post-communist sinology—an important topic that we know surprisingly little about. Memories are still vivid on the incident: on 29 January 2010, a five-storey building at 45J Ma Tau Wai Road, To Kwa Wan, Hong Kong collapsed, causing four deaths and two injuries. There has been English dictionary of contemporary Chinese measure words in the market, but there is not any English dictionary talking about ancient Chinese classifiers. Contemporary Chinese art is nowadays a subject area widely taught and researched in academic and non-academic publications, but it has not yet been studied by 'localizing' the research in specific cultural areas within the Chinese world. Selecting Hong Kong for a first such study was an obvious choice, since Hong Kong culture has had for already quite a long time very specific features which have put it apart from the generally accepted definition of Chinese national culture.
