This volume explores the management of conflicts arising from the siting of unwanted projects in the Asia-Pacific, a region inadequately explored by the relevant literature. The work includes studies on a variety of locations, including Hong Kong, Japan, Mainland China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, and others. The period of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960) has long been treated as an anomaly in the history of China, an age of great disunity between the empires of the Tang and the Song dynasties. Breaking with previous scholarship on China's middle period, this edited volume presents individual studies that focus on the art, culture, and politics of the interregnum, challenging underlying assumptions about the unitary nature of dynastic culture and its value as a category of historical analysis. It understands these decades as a time of important transition in which the incipient cultural shifts of the mature Tang dynasty turned into the foundations of Song society. Consequently it highlights the complex narrative processes that gave birth to Song culture.

Over a ten-year period, Professor Ma carried out cross-disciplinary research in Hong Kong focused on the effectiveness of structural family therapy for Chinese patients suffering from anorexia nervosa. She found that although the Chinese patients received the same diagnosis as their Western counterparts, their experiences throughout the stages of the disease differed significantly due to interpersonal contexts and subjective cultural factors. The present collection synthesizes this clinical experience into a culturally specific, socially relevant, and clinically useful family treatment model for patients.

早熟晏熟橫直熟 早春晚春攏有春 我 ê 第一本詩集《黑臉》、第二本詩集《唯情是岸》、第三本詩集《一等國民三字經》攏是使用華語寫作 ê。前兩本是自費出版，只印一千本，第三本是出版社出 ê，印三千本，目前已經攏絕版。 我將這三本華語詩集，各精選 10 首左右，翻譯做台語，並請英語 kap 台語同時是母語 ê Alice kap Chieh-ting 翻做英語，höo in koh 有重新出版 ê 機會。 《黑臉》1987 年出版 ê 時，猶是大學生，少年人免不了有 khah 嚴格，有真濟詩作無拾入來，想講趁晚年 koh 轉來揀選，應該有寡當初無選入來 ê 詩，會當選入來。想袂到，巡來巡去，原來流落街頭 ê「˜ tsiânn 囝」，猶原是感覺真無成熟，只好mä 是殘殘做一無情 ê 爸母，mä 是無 kä 選半首。 《唯情是岸》就干焦選感情詩，《一等國民三字經》干焦選國民詩。選 ê 時，以選長年來 khah有受讀者肯定 ê 作品為原則。Kä 家己 ê 華語詩改寫台語詩，其實真艱苦。真濟人講詩是袂當翻譯 ê，應該是 teh 指作者家己翻譯家己 ê 作品入去家己攏真熟 ê 語言。因為攏是真熟 ê 語言，所以會真清楚翻過來 ê 是無相像 ê 物件 ah，氣味走去 ah，翻袂落去 ah。最後，只好放棄，莫翻，抑無就是改寫。所以，我翻譯早年寫 ê 華語詩，應該算是重新創作 ah，無算翻譯。為著 beh 忠實原來 ê 創作，我用華語版 kap 台語版對照 ê 方式呈現。 「熟」是條件，早熟晏熟攏是詩。早春晚春攏有 tshun，tshun 一寡工課 hōo 研究者去做。作者 ê 任務是創作，不斷創作。 ──2011/5/24台師大台灣語文學系

Li shang wanglai is a phrase that combines practice and principle. It is what others have discussed as Confucianism. But it is the summation of what is practised in daily life and without the leadership of an elite intelligentsia. With this phrase the author has brought together what had been separately discussed: the social philosophy of bao (asymmetrical reciprocity), the central importance of mianzi and lian (face), the moral economy of renqing (human relationships of fellow-feeling), the art of making guanxiwang (social networks), and much else. She shows how they work together in what might be called a discursive constellation. Using sociological and anthropological theorisations of reciprocal relations in China and Japan, she creates a framework of four dimensions, namely, principled rational calculation, human-feeling, moral, and religious, and four kinds of relationships, namely, instrumental, expressive, negative and generous.
