This study examined the relationship between ethical leadership and multidimensional organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs), specifically organization-targeted OCBs (OCBO) and individual-targeted OCBs (OCBI). In addition, the study examined the multiple mediating effects of selfefficacy, respect, and leader-member exchange (LMX) on the relationship between ethical leadership and OCBO, as well as the relationship between ethical leadership and OCBI. Through the application of a hierarchical linear model, an analysis of the results from 656 dyadic supervisor- subordinate data from 145 business units in Taiwan showed that both respect and LMX significantly mediated the ethical leadership-OCBO and -OCBI relationships. The implications of these results for theory and practice and directions for future research are also discussed.

Taiwan’s Economic Security Since the 21st century, China’s rise has become a fact, and People’s Liberation Army has developed rather quickly. Thusso-called China’s military rise has become the most challenging phenomenon in world politics. Regarding to its army building and readiness many studies have shown that the People’s Liberation Army, in 2020, will form a complete (anti-access/area denial) capabilities, capable enough to turn China into a great military power in Asia-Pacific. It will have an impact on the Asia-Pacific regional stability, the cross-strait military balance, and under Untied States re-balance strategy. Under China’s military threat, Taiwan must be innovative in terms of strategic thinking and concept.

The main purpose of this research was to explore culture shock and cross-cultural adaptation of foreign English teachers in Taiwan. According to the findings in this research, recommendations were made for foreign English teachers and educational organizations in Taiwan to serve as a basis of conducting further researches or setting relevantly educational policies. A convenient sampling was conducted, and six participants, including American, British, and Canadian teachers, filled in semistructured questionnaire and had in-depth interviews. The results were shown as follows: 1. Influence of culture shock: (1) The first impression in Taiwan was mostly negative feelings. (2) Guanxi and Face were the most distinguishing cultural characteristics. (3) Culture shock had little impact on life, but lack of English environment caused inconvenience. Rong-an Chen has devoted himself to the research of Chinese classifiers for forty years, and the ultimate achievement is the publication of a dictionary discussing the usage of Chinese classifiers in ancient time. There has been English dictionary of contemporary Chinese measure words in the market, but there is not any English dictionary talking about ancient Chinese classifiers. The absence of such a kind of dictionary in the book stores motivates him to write this dictionary. The document data collected in this dictionary begins from the oracle bone inscription in the Shang Dynasty (1600 BC) to 1949A.D., when the famous Chinese author Lao She’s (老舍) article《四世同堂》was written. This dictionary has the following outstanding features: 1. This volume is the most extensive social and cultural history of twentieth-century Huangmei Opera to date. A regional Chinese theater originating in the Anqing countryside, Huangmei Opera gained popularity with the success of the 1950s play and movie, Tianxian pei 天仙配 (Married to a Heavenly Immortal). Through a case study of this work, the author juxtaposes the complex process of rewriting and revising the play and movie against the rapidly changing cultural and ideological climate of the Communist theater reform movement. As a result, the traditional theme of filial piety becomes a struggle over class and free love. This volume features a full translation of the original play and its revision in the 1950s, as well as selected articles by scriptwriters, directors, performers, and critics. These primary sources allow readers to gain access to inside views of the contemporaries and their political and artistic concerns.

Transnational Representations focuses on a neglected period in Taiwan film scholarship: the golden age of the 1960s and 1970s, which saw innovations in plot, theme and genre as directors highlighted the complexities of Taiwan's position in the world. Combining a concise overview of Taiwan film history with analysis of representative Taiwan films, the book reveals the internal and external struggles Taiwan experienced in its search for global identity. This cross-disciplinary study adopts a transnational approach which presents Taiwan's film industry as one that is intertwined with that of mainland China, challenging previous accounts that present the two industries as parallel yet separate. The book also offers productive comparisons between Taiwan films and contemporary films elsewhere representing the politics of migration, and between the antecedents of new cinema movements and Taiwan New Cinema of the 1980s.
