Psychosis and Schizophrenia in Hong Kong: Navigating Clinical and Cultural Crossroads
滿額折
出版日:2024/03/12 作者:Eric Yu Hai Chen and Yvonne Treffurth  出版社:香港大學出版社  裝訂:精裝
Psychosis and Schizophrenia in Hong Kong covers some of the most serious mental health conditions that top the global disease burden and affect 3 per cent of the general population. However, most research on psychotic disorders is undertaken in the West, and few studies have been systematically carried out in Asia despite global interest in regional differences. This work offers a unique and coherent account of these disorders and their treatment in Hong Kong over the last thirty years.Chen and his research programme’s pioneering work has ranged from the impact of early intervention on outcomes and relapse prevention, to the renaming of psychosis to reduce stigma. The studies have contributed to wider international debates on the optimal management of the condition. Their investigations in semantics and cognition, as well as cognition-enhancing exercise interventions, have provided novel insights into deficits encountered in psychotic disorders and how they might be ameliorated. The Chu Silk Manuscripts from Zidanku, Changsha (Hunan Province) Volume I & II
滿額折
出版日:2025/01/01 作者:Li Ling  出版社:香港中文大學出版社  裝訂:精裝
Volume IThe Silk Manuscripts from Zidanku, Changsha (Hunan), are the only pre-Imperial Chinese manuscripts on silk found to-date. Dating to the turn from the 4th to the 3rd centuries BC (Late Warring States period), they contain several texts concerning basic cosmological concepts, including one manuscript (Manuscript 1) with a diagrammatic arrangement and surrounded by pictorial illustrations. As such, they constitute a unique source of information complementing and going beyond what is known from transmitted texts. This is the first in a two-volume monograph on the Zidanku manuscripts, reflecting almost four decades of research by Professor Li Ling of Peking University. While the philological study and translation of the manuscript texts is the subject of Volume Two, this first volume presents the archaeological context andhistory of transmission of the physical manuscripts. It records how they were taken from their original place of interment in the 1940s and taken to the United Stat

Eternal Transience, Enlightened Wisdom:Masterpieces of Buddhist Art contextualises thirtythree bronze statues and thangkas of deities and gurus in Tibetan Buddhism from Tibet, Nepal, Pakistan and Mongolia dating from the 6th–19th centuries. From an art historical perspective, these Himalayan masterpieces reflect an array of aesthetic and artistic traditions from neighbouring regions across the Indian subcontinent and Central Asia. The book provides a comprehensive analysis of the artworks’ iconography and material culture. As part of Buddhism’s eternal journey from India to the Himalayas, China and Japan, the religious icons and objects of daily religious practice remain a testament to the shifting cultures that have engaged with Buddhism over the millennia.Acknowledging such a state of transience highlights the enlightened wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism as portrayed through the various artworks.「如來一相:佛教藝術藏珍」展出藏傳佛教藝術品,包括銅像及唐卡。展品源自6至19世紀西藏、尼泊爾、巴基斯坦,甚至遠及蒙古。藝術史上,藏傳佛教藝術興於喜馬拉雅山脈一帶,承襲了印度次大陸及中亞地區的美

Yinggelishi: Jonathan Stalling’s Interlanguage Art
滿額折
出版日:2021/11/21 作者:Jonathan Stalling; edited by Chen Wang  出版社:香港大學出版社  裝訂:精裝
Jonathan Stalling’s experimental approach to bridging art, poetics, and linguistics imagines a world where individual value systems are no longer translated into the language of other mediums, but foster conscious “interlanguages.” Stalling writes, “Meeting in the middle, ‘interlanguages’ are spaces where one learns a new language without having left one’s home fully behind; these situations can result in richly generative interlingual and intercultural estuaries which provide new ways of imagining.” Stalling’s conceptual language art fuses Classical Chinese poetics and linguistics with modern algorithms to create art installations and poetry that transform Chinese into English and English into Chinese in new and surprising ways. With a visual gallery of Stalling’s work, an interview with the artist, a critical introduction by the editor, and critical chapters written by the comparative literature scholar Timothy Billings and Chinese Linguist Liu Nian, the volume provides readers with a
