社会研究方法是社会科学的重要基础。社会研究方法的发展和进步贯穿于社会科学发展的全部历史过程。当今，大数据、人工智能等科技的发展带来了深刻的社会影响，社会研究方法的发展也随之迎来了一个关键的历史时刻。有鉴于此，中国社会科学院社会学研究所社会调查与方法研究室决定创办《社会研究方法评论》（Social Research Methods Review）集刊。

本書集結六篇論文（第一、三、四、六篇德文，第二篇西班牙文，第五篇義大利文），本書為因應時代變遷下的教育環境及學生職涯挑戰，在教學方法上所提出新的論述及建構。 This book contains essays by various teachers from different universities and departments with the aim of presenting modern teaching methods for the changed learning and study conditions on the basis of theoretical preliminary considerations. Language teachers at Taiwanese universities often encounter similar difficulties in designing lessons: students’ increasing frustration and lack of motivation. Many students experience a high level of frustration and demotivation; they cannot find future prospects in language studies. Confronted with reality of time-consuming internships, part-time jobs and life, many students become painfully aware that a linguistic degree won’t prepare them for later work or provides career opportunities. 桑梓蘭 國立台灣大學外文系學士，美國加州大學柏克萊分校比較文學博士。曾任教於奧勒岡大學和史丹佛大學，現任密西根州立大學語言系教授。研究專長為現代中文文學，華語電影，性別研究，台灣研究。主要學術專著有 The Emerging Lesbian: Female Same-Sex Desire in Modern China (芝加哥大學出版社，2003；中文版《浮現中的女同性戀：現代中國的女同性愛欲》，台大出版中心，2014)，Documenting Taiwan on Film: Issues and Methods in New Documentaries (Routledge, 2012) 等。研究之餘，亦從事翻譯和創作。

The Dark Side 2: Day Zero and Other Stories is a mix of stories, dividing broadly between six’horror’ stories and six’thriller’ stories. Horror stories often fill us with dread and show us a much darker side of human behaviour. At the same time, they can be funny and satirical. The other six stories are more varied. Some are thrillers where the main aim is to excite the reader. Some like’Auto Message’ try to say something about how technology is affecting our daily lives. Others like’The Curse’ try to show us, in a humorous way, how greedy people could be. The great thing about stories is that they carry us into another world on top of helping us to learn words, parts of speech and sentence construction. This book is a self-contained introduction to the fundamental and interesting topics of geometry. The topics covered include the definitions and properties of 2D and 3D shapes, the basic concepts and formulas of perimeter, area and volume, the Pick’s formula, the Cavalieri’s principles, the basic geometric transformations, the concepts of tessellations, the Euler’s polyhedral formula, and the methods of construction of regular polygons and regular polyhedra. Complemented by diagrams, pictures, examples and exercises, the materials covered are suitable for an introductory course on geometry and will appeal to school students, teachers, junior undergraduate students, mathematics instructors or lecturers alike.

This study tests the factors of transaction costs (TC) and resource-based views (RBV) to explain the MNEs’ entry decisions in China. By using large firm-level data from China, I show in this paper that variables related to internal uncertainty (e.g., management) and firm-specific assets tend to affect MNEs’ entry decisions in a way that is consistent with the transaction cost logic; that is, the higher degree of internal uncertainty, the MNEs may require more control over the foreign facilities or the JV. On the other hand, those variables related to external uncertainty (e.g., marketing) and intangible assets tend to conform to the resource-based view, which means higher external uncertainty would cause the MNEs to leverage the resources or local experience of local partners. This suggests that MNEs may need complementary resources from local partners to reduce the external uncertainty and enhance the value of their intangible resources.
