本書特色 這是一本因應電腦世代 (computer age) 所寫成的統計學教科書。書中增加了有關 R 語言的介紹,並盡可能在各個章節中,說明電腦以及 R 語言如何在機率與統計推論上,發揮其功用。其中,我們在第 19 章介紹蒙地卡羅模擬與 Bootstrap 樣本重抽法,希望讀者對於如何以電腦運算能力輔助統計推論能有一較為深入的認識。本書的章節安排,是根據我在台大經濟系講授 「統計學」 課程的多年教學經驗所整理出之架構。在介紹完機率模型後,緊接著介紹單變量與多變量隨機變數。關於動差的討論,則是從隨機變數的章節抽離出來,獨立成為第 5 章。同時,亦將常態分配以及與其相關的重要分配如卡方分配,學生 t 分配與 F 分配等,以一獨立章節 (第 6 章) 介紹。這本書的設計目標是,讓學生在得到足以駕馭統計推論的機率理論 (隨機變數,動差,常態分配,抽樣分配與大樣本理論) 之後,就開始一窺統計推論之堂奧。至於其他常用的離散與連續隨機變數,則移到統計推論相關章節的後面,因此,如果是一學期的統計課程,只要專注在第 1 到 11 章即可,關於其他常用離散與連續隨機變數之介紹,可於學期末得空時再補充。我在本書中不再討論變異數分析 (ANOVA),有興趣的讀者請自行參考陳旭昇 (2015)。
