Developments in Intelligent Agent Technologies and Multi-agent Systems: Concepts and Applications

This collection of nineteen articles on software agents showcases current research in the growing fields of artificial intelligence and multi-agent software systems. Originally published in the first four issues of volume one of the International Journal of Agent Technologies and Systems in 2009, the papers are divided into three sections covering basic concepts, emerging technologies and applications. Individual papers discuss such topics as temporally autonomous agent interaction, statistical properties of social group evolution, quantifying disorder in networks, inductive logic programming, norm emergence with biased agents and step-by-step implementation of multi-agent systems for a variety of uses. Entries include illustrations, example code and individual notes and bibliographies and a volume wide compilation of references is provided. Contributors include academics from a variety of fields including computer science, biology, anthropology and engineering, from universities around the world.
