LINDA RIEF teaches seventh- and eighth-grade language arts at Oyster River Middle School in Durham, NH. Rief is author of Seeking Diversity: Language Arts with Adolescents (1992) and coeditor, with Maureen Barbieri, of All That Matters: What Is It We Value in School and Beyond? (1995) and Workshop 6: The Teacher as Writer (1994)--all published by Heinemann. She and Barbieri are also coeditors of the NCTE journal Voices from the Middle.
