A survivor of the Holocaust, Rubinstein was born in Frankfurt. In 1933 he fled with his parents to Luxembourg, Brussels, and southern France, and then to Switzerland with his mother after his father was arrested and deported in 1942. He earned a teaching degree at the U. of Basel, and immigrated to the U.S. with his mother after the war. For the past 20 years he has written op-ed pieces for Florida newspapers and spoken to students throughout the Florida school system about the Holocaust in an effort to teach others about the destructive nature of prejudice and discrimination. Leon Rubinstein earned a teaching degree at the University of Basel. After the war, he immigrated to the United States and had a successful business career with a national company. For the past twenty years, he has written op-ed pieces for Florida newspapers and spoken to students about the Holocaust and his own remarkable story of survival. He and his wife live in Jupiter, Florida.
