A two-volume critical edition and translation of the Latin version (entitled De aspectibus ) of the optical synthesis completed by Ibn al-Haytham ("Alcahen" in his Latin incarnation) sometime between 1028 and 1038. It focuses on the first three books, which were omitted in that work and which are often at variance with the Arabic original in terms of internal structure and perspective. Intended as a complement to the Arabic, this text has been modernized so as to place it in historical context, and can be used to compare that work at every level against its Latin counterpart.
